Okay, this first part has nothing to do with Halloween, and after Hurricane Sandy it seems like nothing, but it is worth blogging about. Last Thursday our hot water heater "leaked" and filled the bottom floor of the house with 2 inches of water. So, we had to bring in the big guns to help us out. These fans and dehumidifier have been running for days trying to dry it out. Mom and Alysha would be in heaven, but as for me, I can't wait to sleep without the constant hum.
Thank goodness for Burt, his big truck, and his mad plumbing skills!
The big fans knocked our picture off the wall with a very loud crash.
He had us up and running in no time. However, he and Ben ran out to get some money to pay for the gas for the big truck, and I heard a strange noise. I went downstairs and water was gushing out of the garage ceiling and all over the furniture and belongings that we had moved out of the downstairs! For some reason there is a random pipe that goes from the hot water heater to the garage, but that is as far as it goes. In our mad dash to turn the hot water heater off, apparently we had turned this pipe on! Ah, someday soon things will be back to normal.
Evan really enjoyed watching the World Series. So much in fact that he has been reenacting it, but he likes to switch up the teams every now and then. In this game it was the Jayhawks vs the Supermans.
We stopped to watch the hawks, but then, game on!
Evan the photographer captured our pumpkin carving experience for us.
He actually helped this year! Yes, he is touching the inside of the pumpkin:)
He really loves Halloween, can you tell?
We made monster eyes to hang in the trees and around the house.
With the leftover glow sticks, Evan had a bath in the dark.
Ready for his Halloween party at preschool.
He couldn't wear his mask, so he wanted to take a picture so all his teachers would know what his whole costume looked like.
Evan got to trick-or-treat with his best friend Caleb. Yes, this is the Caleb that inspired this conversation: E: Mama, do you know who Cheez It is?
M: Yes, it is a cracker, but you don't like them.
E: But do you know who it is?
M: They aren't a person, what do you mean?
E: Then why did C say, "Thank you Cheez It for my mommy and papa."
M: (trying very hard not to giggle, because E hates to be laughed at) Oh, you mean Jesus!
Also, Caleb is the star student and on his poster under his favorite thing to do, he said play with Evan. They are too cute.
At each house they said trick-or-treat and then thank you and have a happy Halloween. Such good manners when candy is involved. We went to the neighborhood on one side of the golf course. It was very quiet, which worked out to be a great thing for the boys. They may have had to walk a little (unlike almost everyone else we saw who were being driven from door to door), which is why they look so pooped at the last house, but in the end I think they were happy with the result.
This boy had a very happy Halloween!
