First Trip to the Dentist

Evan had his first visit with Dr. Saladin today. Pretty much we went in and filled out the paperwork so he could be a patient, then they took us back, he got to sit in the big chair, and the dentist checked his teeth. He said his dental age matched up with his age, so that's good. Since he is no longer taking a bottle or a pacifier, he is a low risk patient. He left with a smile, a balloon, a toy star, and a bag of dental goodies. All in all, a good trip. Ben and I just wish they took adults too. They have video games in the lobby and TV screens on the ceiling above each chair.

A Day in the Life...

Today was the first day that felt like vacation. Monday came, and we didn't wake up to an alarm! So, what did we do all day? Evan had a fabulous breakfast of yogurt, scrambled eggs, banana, waffle and milk. Then he played, and slept, we went to Target, he played and slept. Dada was his first word, but I am pretty sure he is not just saying mama in one of these videos, but it might actually be directed at me. He also says the word dog, which sounds a lot like dada, but he says it while reading Bad Dog, Marley.

Father's Day

We started the day with a walk to the park. You won't be able to tell from the pictures, but he does enjoy our morning walks.

After our walk we went out to breakfast. When Evan woke from his nap, we went to Toys R Us and got a pool. Ben and I thought we were going to die before we figured out the trick to blowing this thing up.

He loves the bath, but man on man, I think he loves his pool more. In his pool, if he drops something over the edge, he can reach out and grab it.

After the pool Evan took a nice long nap, then we played some more. Dada is definitely his first word. While Ben was at the river with Shadow we worked on hi dada, and when I called Ben and held the phone up to Evan's ear and told him to say hi dada, he did! Total fluke, but what great timing.

We finished off the night with Ben reading to Evan (this book was Evan's father's day gift to Ben).

Last Day of School!

Wednesday was my last day of school, yay! So we had our end of the year party, and of course Evan charmed all the ladies. Here he is with his new friend Madison. I am not sure what his facial expression is all about since he just convinced her to trade a water bottle and cup for a shiny silver party noisemaker. The shiny silver noisemaker:)

He is getting good at sharing, as long as you share right back!

Brittany is a natural, both as a mom and art teacher!

First Word?

This morning Evan and I were in his room, and Ben was asleep in our room. I hollered at Ben, telling him he needed to get up so I could get in the shower. He hollered back, and the next thing I know Evan is off. He was crawling toward our room saying, "dah (long pause) dah (long pause) dah." So, I am not sure that counts as a first word, but it is definitely noteworthy, because he was clearly heading toward dad and saying the same thing repeatedly. Needless to say, Ben was out of bed quickly, and high fiving and hugging Evan. Very exciting! Now if school would just be over already, so I can enjoy him all day, everyday. Wearing his adorable new outfit from Julie.

And, just in case you leave Evan's presence wondering if he is always that happy, most of the time he his, but he does have his moments when he is tired...

His favorite game, take it all out, one at a time. We are still working on that other fun game, where we put them all back in. Mommy loves that game, but daddy and Evan, not so much.
