Week 40

This week Evan had a play date with Samantha, got another cold, and began eating three solid meals a day. Needless to say the days of "sweet" breastfed diapers are a thing of the past. Now I am not quite so sure why I was in such a rush for him to enjoy solids. On top of that lovely news, he is no longer reserving his rolling skills for tummy time. He just loves to try and roll right off that changing table! Especially when he has a present waiting for me:) We also tried on some of his 12 month clothes, and they fit! Of course he still has quite a bit of wiggle room, but they fit. So, here he is sporting his 49ers gear he got for Christmas.

He is looking about as excited as a Niners fan could get this year..."We're #1?"
Yep, that's about it Evan, boring!
Here he is hanging with his Daddy.
"Hey, we have the same hat! Let me try yours."

"What is so funny?"

"Let me try that again." "Okay fine, I'll stick with mine."

You would think by now that Evan would have it figured out that no matter how cool dad is, there are some things he just can't do.
"Oh well, it was worth a try."

Evan had a great time playing with Samantha. Although we did discover that Evan has not had a play date since he reached his Curious George stage. So, he found out the hard way that babies don't like to have their noses, ears, and toes grabbed by anyone but themselves...he made his first girl cry! We are working on the word gentle.
Playing happily together...
...they even shared...
...then he went for the cheek...
...then the ear...
...and the foot...
...none of which went over well!
So, they tried again, this time on their tummies.
She finally decided that Shadow was much more interesting and less painful!
A short photo op while waiting for Samantha to arrive.

He loved having the coffee table out of the way, much more room to rock n' roll.

Evan is now the same age that Alysha was at our wedding. Do you think they look alike at all?

Fun in the tub!

Week 39

Evan will be 9 months tomorrow. I know I have said this before, many times, but where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday I was holding him for the first time, and now he is getting his third tooth (top left). He is now eating solids three times a day, rolling like it was never a challenge, and "talking" all the time. He says something that sounds a lot like daddy, but not necessarily when Ben is around. He has developed a new skill this week that I think can best be described as slurping. He has slept in his own room for the last week, and as a result I am the most tired I have been since he was born because he is still nursing every three hours, only now I have to get out of bed to do it. Oh well, one step at a time. He has been full of laughter lately too. Ben says he must have his sense of humor because he laughs at the strangest things.Enjoy the pictures and videos.
Cleaning up after dinner
Looking for Shadow
Evan is looking so sad because Shadow left the room. You can tell when he returns by Evan's reactions. I think he slurps he gets so excited.

This is another attempt at getting his slurping on camera...
All the toys surrounding him, and what keeps him occupied?

Check out these neck rolls!

Despite being out late Friday night, (we celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday at school) he only took a short nap Saturday morning. He was fighting it, but finally fell asleep for a few hours in the afternoon.

It looks like he is in his toy bin, but he isn't.

He is starting to go through his "doesn't want to be away from mommy" phase. He seems to always be checking to make sure I am still there.
He sure can reach just about anything he wants these days. Look at him stretch!

And the winner is...squash! Evan finally finished a container of food in one sitting.

Week 38

Evan has become so curious these past few weeks. He has recently discovered that he can lean forward, and cock his head to the side at the same time, allowing him to look under things. He has also been experimenting with different sounds. He seems to enjoy a really high pitched squeal and a low pitch fake cough/choking sound. Both of which are cute, but also a little disturbing when he does them out of the blue. He has also turned over a new leaf when it comes to food. He will pretty much lean in and open wide for all foods now. He still hasn't finished an entire container in one sitting, but he gets quite a few bites in before he is either bored or full.
Here he is showing off his new sounds.
Our new chair finally arrived!
Watching daddy put it together...
Testing it out...seems to do the job nicely!
It rocks...
...it reclines...
...and it reclines some more. As a result, Evan slept in his own room all night Sunday, since I could nurse him in his own room without a creaking chair waking him up afterward.
I'm sure all new moms feel the same way, but I could watch him play all day. In fact, that is pretty much all I did Saturday after making room for the new chair. Here he is using those new searching skills. We played this game for hours this weekend. He pulls everything out, I put it away, and he pulls it back out. He loved it!

He found Elmo particularly funny this day...
A close up of his owie. He got himself pretty good. Guess I had better be a little more consistent with cutting his nails.
He woke up Thursday morning bright and early, so he had time to jump and eat before school.
