Our Little Jayhawk

Our little Jayhawk is 16 months! We went to the doctor today for his well baby visit and shots. He is 2 ft 7 3/4 in tall (57%) and he weighs 23 lb 5.4 oz (26%). He is regularly saying hi, and please. When he wants something he points and says, "peas." It is too cute! He also is saying what we think is "I did it." He is is saying it in one of the videos, so you can be the judge. We went through and switched out most of the 12 months summer clothes for the 18 month winter clothes. In the mix we found a pair of slippers passed down to Evan from his friend Rowan. Evan loves them! You will see them in the video too and hear Evan's latest favorite cd (his Auntie Alysha left her Now 30 cd here).

Just carrying his buckets back and forth, back and forth.

He really wants to help with the lawnmower....

Practicing for senior pictures at an early age:)

Testing out the new slippers.

What will we do when the everyday items in his room no longer bring him so much joy?

Out!

Lately all Evan wants to do is go outside. He stands at the front door grunting and reaching for the door knob, or puts both hands and one leg on the sliding glass door, trying to push it open. He makes the loop around the front yard, spins the windmill, goes through the side gate, into the backyard to his swing, and then in through the sliding glass door to start all over again. So, when Ben and his dad were finished fixing a broken pipe in the front yard, of course the fresh mud was too much to resist. Are you getting this mom?
Ooh, mud!
What does this do?
Oh, it turns...
...well, let me try.
Ooh, what is he doing now?
Ooh, mud!

Let me try this again, I know I can do it, I just need some leverage.
Mom, don't just sit there, help me!
Ugh! Okay, mom, if you won't help, I'll ask grandma.
What's this?
Ah, I like water!
Look what I can do!
I especially like water when it is 90+ degrees outside!
Here dada, have some.

Whoa! How did you do that?
Let me try!
Cooling off in the shade, spinning the windmill.

He Just Can't Help Himself!

Evan may get his uncontrollable urge to dance from me, but he may have his daddy' taste in music. Either that or he is just getting in touch with his inner Crescent City. Every time ACDC comes on, this boy just goes. He usually gets a hand in the air too, but in this video he is just too into the music to care.

Who? What? When? Where?

We aren't sure which one he is saying, but this is Evan's favorite motion and word at the moment. He uses it when someone leaves the room, when he hides something and wants you (or him) to find it, or whenever he doesn't know what is going on.

UCD Babies

We had a play date with some of our UCD babies. My group pictures turned out a little blurry, hopefully Gina's are more clear. Ben, Luke, Evan and Ian
Every time the action got to be too much for Evan we would find him chillin on the couch by himself.
Checking out the other boys playing with his toys. We discovered that he is pretty good at sharing. There were only two toys he didn't want to part with at first, his black dog and his truck. But, eventually, even those were being shared.

Ben really loves to clean! He found all of our cleaning utensils, but I think the big red push broom was his favorite.

Bubbles are always a big hit!

Luke's turn with the big red broom.
Luke trying to persuade Ev to give up the truck.

Showing Luke his books.
