Crescent City for the 4th

Our trip to Crescent City started off well. This was our first stop after Evan's brief nap in the car. Isn't it beautiful?
A little time to run around and play with trucks.

Taking in the view

Isn't this outfit cute? It was his first and last time wearing it. When we got back on the road, Ben took over the driving. About an hour later Evan gets fussy, and starts saying, "Mama drive!" with some force. I tried to read him some books to calm him down, but I only made it through one and a half before I got carsick. About three minutes later Evan threw up all over himself. So we stopped at the Weed airport, threw away the outfit, wiped him down with wipes, and aired out the car seat as best we could. Sorry to say that he got my car riding abilities. Of course this meant that I drove the rest of the trip.

After a very long ride, Evan wanted nothing to do with going to sleep once we arrived at Grandma and Papa Mac's house.

I love this one!

The next day we stopped by Grandpa Bob's house for a little while, and Evan ate all of his bananas.

Due to his growth spurt we were off to Fred Meyer (on the 3rd of July!) to get some new shoes. He wasn't the least bit excited about this until he saw the carts they had.

Driving the Jeep before we head into town for the 4th festivities. He drives like he walks, looking anywhere but forward!

Checking out front street with mommy, daddy, and Grandpa Bob. We got to the doughboy booth before there was a line! We were privileged enough to get Grandpa Bob his first doughboy. Can you believe it?

It was more than a little windy.

Beautiful!

Ben is teaching Evan how to kick the sand, with his new shoes! Evan loved it. We will definitely have to make a longer visit to the beach on our next visit.

The big hollowed out log. Evan couldn't get enough. We finally had to pull him away so others could walk through.

Daddy is on the phone, grandpa's turn!

The live tree wasn't nearly as much fun.

Done!

Back to the log!

After all that excitement, he conked out right before the parade. He may as well have kept sleeping because he did not enjoy the parade much. The only time he would let me take my hands off his ears was when the Smith River band went by. After about 20 minutes daddy took him to the car and he watched from there. He enjoyed it much more that way.
Back to Grandpa Bob's to rest up a little.

Then back out to Grandma and Papa Mac's to play with Avery and Brynn before we head back in for fireworks.

Dancing cousins!

After a fun filled weekend, it was time to head home. We left a little abruptly because the check engine light came on in the Prius and we had to make it to Medford before four. This did not sit well with Evan. For the rest of the night he kept alternating between saying, "Evan stay at grandma and papa's house!" and "Go to Titi Risa's house!" He took a short break from crying this when he discovered the play area at the dealership.

We split our trip in two on the way back by spending the night in Dunsmuir. It made all the difference, thank you Hulls. It was warm, so we turned on the fan. For some reason when Evan stood in front of it he called it getting a haircut. I love this photo!

Rolling on the ground to see if he can still feel the fan or just to be silly, not sure.

"Mommy, haircut with me?"

After a long trip he needed a long nap.

We had fun, but we are glad to be home.

Evan learned how to do two new things while on vacation, pedal and pee in the yard.

Thank you Skeet and Ris

Uncle Skeeter and Auntie Risa get a special thank you for Evan's birthday presents because my printer is out of ink, therefore I can't print and mail their thank you. I hope you enjoy getting to watch him unwrap your gift! He loved the packing peanuts!

Gardening and other fun stuff

We have spent a lot of time in the back yard this summer, but when it gets too hot we must play inside. This is just one of the MANY potato head families we have made.Evan: "Daddy, Baby Evan, and Mama going shopping."
A big thank you to Ben's parents and the Costellos for our garden boxes. These pictures are a few weeks old. The zucchini has completely taken over now:)
