September and October 2011

We found a great kite at a garage sale, waited for a windy day, and headed to the park. Too bad we forgot that neither of us know how to fly a kite. We did finally get it in the air, but there were some debates in the process.

This is how into Evan was...
But he did finally give it a try.
Let's try another sport...

Evan tried soccer for the first time. It was only a half an hour once a week for a month, but he had fun while he was there.
Ben couldn't come to his practice, so we brought him back to the park later that day. Evan refused to go on the field because "My team isn't here!"

We got to spend some time with the Briggs family while Auntie Beth was in town. We always have fun with this crew!
 Twins?

 Cousins
Auntie Beth were her great niece and nephews.
 Last day of soccer!

 Age of Sail
Mickey Mouse firefighter is here to save the day.
We thought Evan would love going to the Touch a Truck event. He LOVES trucks!
But no, he wanted nothing to do with them because they were too loud.
So happy to be back in the car.
A little art time after nap.

Evan reminds me so much of Skeeter and this video is one of those times. They have great imaginations!

First Giants Game

Ben's parents bought us tickets to a Giants game for Ben's birthday. This was Evan's first Giants game. He was excited. We decided to ride the ferry from Alameda. We were all a little cold waiting for it to arrive. I was very envious of the woman in front of us as she sipped her nice hot Starbucks beverage.
Evan was very patient while we waited. He loved all the big boats. We had just read I'm Mighty, a book about a tug, so he especially enjoyed seeing all the tugs.
He loved the ferry ride, but he also loved his second pb and j of the day.
My hair looks a little like I am trying to be a red headed rocker, not sure what happened:(
The view of the city from the ferry.

Another try at the family photo...and my eyes are closed.

Did I mention he was excited?
Family photo, take three. I looked pregnant, but I decided to crop it and post it anyway.

He loved his cotton candy!
What a beautiful park!

It was Star Wars day at the park. We saw many interesting costumes. The best was the Giants Storm Trooper.

The view of our ferry.

Evan didn't want to try the slide in the kid zone, but he did take his turn at bat three times.
He went lefty the first time, and hit on his first try.
He doesn't quite have the running of the bases down:)
He was so good while waiting in line.

He has moved on to his third pb and j of the day. Once again enjoying all the boats, but this time from the inside of the ferry.

We had a great time and both boys passed out for the ride home. We were all asleep by nine and slept in this morning. The sun and excitement took it out of us, but it was well worth it.
