As soon as my classroom was prepped for summer we hit the road! It was just me and Evan because Ben didn't want to miss the opportunity to drive since they had started sending people full time. First stop, Hiouchi, to meet Georgia!

We both loved listening to how much Cecelia talks these days. Evan can't stop impersonating her and repeating some of her key phrases.

Peaceful once again.
We took Evan, Cecelia, and Alysha up to the cabin for the 8th grade picnic. It was strange because so many of the kids are children of people I went to school with. Someone was nursing this baby raccoon until it is big enough to be released into the wild. We couldn't leave until Ev and C saw it.
Evan enjoyed spending so much time with his cousins. By the end of the day Evan was calling Cecelia Sis. I am not sure if it was short for sister or Cecilia, but either way it was too cute.

Uncle Casey brought one of his puppies up to the house. Adorable! Well, until it puked all over. Then Alysha wasn't so sure.
Grandma decided that Evan needed a family birthday party while we were home. Of course he was on board!
When this kid turned five it was like a switch was flipped. He is a sports maniac! He is especially into baseball right now.
Some lessons from Uncle Casey.
Since it was his party, he opted for doing presents first thing. He wasn't sure what to think of uncle's gift, since he has never played video games ( he now realizes how cool it is). I wish I had video taped Ben's reaction when he saw it. He jumped and yelled like it was his fifth birthday:)
Grandma went with a water theme and he couldn't have been more excited since his goal is to turn our yard into his very own water park.

Evan was so excited to have his other cousins there to celebrate. Especially his boy cousin!
The girls had their recital later in the evening, so they were practicing their facial expressions. Evan and I enjoyed watching them dance mom and Casey's choreography. So proud of all of them.

We had a fabulous time in Crescent City and we both wanted to stay longer, but we had other plans. We were going to Disneyland! We left Hiouchi at about 9:30, and were planning to leave for Disneyland as soon as Titi got off work. We were almost home and ready for showers, dinner, and the switching out of luggage, when...we ran out of gas. I know, silly. Even sillier, we were in the Prius. I have given Ben such a hard time for running out of gas in that car. I was planning to get gas at the Costco in Folsom, figuring I had at least ten more miles to go, and we made it to about 1/4 mile before Prairie City. Ugh! I had to swallow my pride and eat my words as I called Ben to bring us gas. But hey, we were still smiling because we were going to Disneyland!
