Taekwondo and Swimming

Evan started Taekwondo in May and he is really enjoying it. We started with a six week course through the Cameron Park CSD, and he has decided to continue. He has his tenants star and tested out of Tiny Tigers earning a tiger patch and another star for attendance.

I think this is his favorite part!

He started swim lessons in June. He seems to have back tracked a little since last summer, but that is expected. He had fun in the water for the two weeks of class.

Since we weren't seeing any growth in the group class, we decided to try private lessons. So much better! After one lesson he was back where he was last summer. On the 4th of July he had a slip and fell into Auntie Brooke's pool. He didn't really like to dunk his head before that, but afterward he hated the thought of it. The lessons helped. However, the life jacket has given him new life in the pool!

Evan's 4th Birthday

Evan is 4! He is such an amazing little boy. He is funny, kind, and curious. He loves superheroes, Disney, Cars, TNMNT, Taekwondo, reading, TV, spending time with family, planning parties, and spending time with his BFF Caleb.
Mommy was up late getting his party ready. He helped pick out the decorations, because planning parties is one of his favorite things. But he didn't get to see them set up before he went to bed.

I think he likes it and is a little excited. He instantly started asking when everyone (especially Caleb) would be there.
Showing off his Hulk ring.
Opening presents.
Ben and I worked so hard to keep his true present a secret. We slipped up a few times, but he didn't catch on. He is less than enthusiastic in this video, but the idea of going to Disneyland gained momentum as the day and week went on.
Some chocolate chip Mickey pancakes to celebrate.
He got a little excited when it was time to get dressed. It was so much fun watching him get so excited for his birthday.
Talking to the grandparents on the phone. He was not a very good conversationalist because he just wanted to run around and be excited.
Our UCD Baby group came over to celebrate his day (and all their approaching birthdays).

Birthday cake time! In his party planning, he was very adamant that he have a cake and cupcakes.

First attempt at a smile with the cake.
Second, and last, attempt.
When I asked him later what he wished for when he blew out his candles he said he wished that our family would be here whenever we need them. Love it!

Playing in the playroom!
They later went out and played in the kiddie pool, ran around the house, and back downstairs. It felt good to have the house full of friends.

Best Buds

UCD Babies all grown up!

I'd say this is the sign of a successful party.
We celebrated the next day with Titi, and she brought our favorite childhood treat!

Ice cream cone clowns! Decisions, decisions!

 Yum, thanks Titi!

Easter

I took Evan to an Easter egg hunt in Cameron Park. He enjoyed it despite his encounter with the creepiest Easter bunnies ever!

He liked the mouse from the hospital so much better!
Afterward we went to Shingle Springs Coffee Company for an Easter cookie, yum!

Easter morning he couldn't wait to look for eggs!

He couldn't run around fast enough!

Later that morning we had the pleasure of celebrating Cecelia's first Easter with Auntie Risa, Uncle Skeeter and Titi.

Beautiful girl!

Mmm, brunch at Sienna? Yes please!
