This last month has been filled with awesomeness. I am not even sure that is a word, actually, I am pretty sure it isn't, but it describes even the seemingly simple things that we have been enjoying this month. Like this plate of mozzarella, basil, and tomatoes for starters. Yummy!
Another bit of awesomeness is showing up on the first day of school in the same dress as one of your best friends.
His week of school and birthday celebrations for me tuckered him out. He needed to refuel for the evening ahead, cousins!
The kiddos put on a show for us. Music, singing, dancing, costumes, the works!
Evan gave me his pirate crown and a silver bow for my birthday. He was so cute all day, making sure my day was special.
Back to school paw print pedicure.

Making some brownies with my little chef, awesome!
Salami, cheese, sprouts, cucumber, avocado, Miracle Whip sandwich, awesome!
Licking the bowl!
Ben went a little crazy at the Goodwill store with his own version of awesomeness.
Okay, you are probably tired of reading the word awesome, but it really is how this journal entry made me feel. I will keep this around for those days when teaching doesn't feel so awesome.
Okay, so not all the days have been awesome. Like this one for example. My day started with a VERY loud explosion at 4 am. I seriously thought something was thrown through the widow and the police were surely on their way. But no, it was a 2 liter bottle of root beer. Ben had put it in the freezer and taken it out shortly before. It was seriously in the top five scariest moments of my life. The root beer kept popping all over the kitchen, like little mini explosions. The day got worse by seeing a car accident on the way to school, finding out later that it was the aunt of one of my students. And because bad things tend to happen in threes, it got even worse by finding out someone I used to work with, and a good friend of my dad, was in a car accident and died. Not a good day.
Luckily we have this guy who puts everything into perspective with his egg carton glasses.
And paper plate mask.
His art wall was full after just a few weeks of school. Love it!
We went to Ben's Teamsters bbq on Labor Day. Evan wasn't feeling very well...
...but Ben found a way to cheer him up. He was all smiles for awhile, but even that wasn't enough. We left shortly afterward and he zonked on the way home.
The next weekend we went to Red Hawk Casino for Ben's birthday dinner. Evan liked the motorcycle, too bad the whole thing was down and he couldn't actually play anything.
Evan picked out Ben's cake, fancy!
The next day neither of us felt well, so this is how we spent our day.
By midweek he had his energy back and the shows commence.
Finally, this weekend none of us were sick. So, we packed it all in. Tumbling in the morning, a haircut, and then the zoo in 90 degree weather. Evan didn't try that awesome looking swing in the background, but I sure wanted to. Maybe he will try it next time.
He was a little excited about the train ride and his zoo key.
Look, he isn't on the bench, woohoo!
He even wanted to go again!
This is one week's worth of bees in the backyard, yikes!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. I bet Sue never thought the straws she brought back from Disneyland would be used as ninja swords.
Studying his moves
He has the moves down:)
